    Facts About Julius Caesar

Julius Caesar conquered Gaul (in France), he was a brilliant Roman General in the army, he also made expeditions into Germany and Britain. Julius Caesar formed an alliance, he got support from the public (the people) in opposition to the Roman senate (leaders). Later the senate witch still held power, ordered Caesar to give up control of the army, he did not, then a civil war broke out (civil war is when a country fights it self and broke out means it started or happened).

Julius Caesar gained control of Rome (the capital of Italy). He held great power and became a dictator giving him more power. He was killed in 44BC (Before Christ) by Roman senators Julius Caesar introduced the Julian calender (the calender we use today).

  5. Roman homework:

    This person is Julius Caesar.
He was a leader of the armies he brought to invade Britain.
It all started on a late summer morning when a Roman fleet of 10,000 soldiers were standing on a coast near Dover to see whether Britain was worth invading or not. The Romans he had brought were scared so no one jumped into the water until the Standard Bearer had, but the army was scared for nothing because the Britons were no match for the well-trained Romans. After his victory, Julius left and returned with another 10,000 men the following year, returned, but never came back for another 97 years.

This is what else I know that happened the rest of the Roman history:

2,700 years ago people called the Celts came from Europe to invade Britain, however the people who already lived there, the Britons, got mixed up with the Celts and were divided into tribes (next was Caesar's role).
Afterwards, Roman Emperor Claudius, decided to make Britain part of the Roman Empire. So he sent 40,000 legions to Great Britain who all landed in Rich borough,Kent. Gradually, Romans swept enemies to the mountains of Wales and Scotland.
It wasn't until AD 84 that the Roman army invaded Scotland. No matter how hard they tried, they couldn't defeat the Scots although the army won some battles.
So they tried hard and were the best army in the world. Romans were split into legionaries with roughly about 5,000 legions. They were also well-trained to build forts, bridges, siege engines (catapults) and roads.
The soldiers wore a heavy armour and shield which they had to hold together. These strong ones also carried a lot of equipment: 2 javelins, a sharp sword, food, cooking gear, an axe and 2 wooden stakes.
There are 3 different types of people who worked in the army:
Archers: Many came from Syria. Some were mounted archers
Slingers: people who throw stones using their tunics
Standard Bearers: people who point directions of where to go
