Literacy homework- Friday 9th May

We have been learning about how to write a play script. For your homework this week, think of a story you have read recently and have a go at turning a section of it into a play.

You must remember to use the features we have learnt about including stage directions.

  3. TITLE OF BOOK PLAY BASED ON : "Rabbit on the Run" By Alex Lane

    SCREENPLAY BY: Jasleen Saund

    CHARACTERS: Rabbit, Tortoise, Hedgehog, Frog, Mouse and Snail.

    SYNOPSIS: Tortoise and Rabbit get ready for a race, which the rabbit is sure to win...?

    SCENE 1: It is a warm and sunny afternoon and Rabbit is warming up next to the road side getting ready for his race against tortoise. He s confident about the outcome and is bragging to his friends, hedgehog, frog, mouse and snail.

    Rabbit: Tortoise cannot get me, i am the fastest there is
    Hedgehog: You sure are.
    Frog: Faster than any of us.
    Snail: especially me.

    Narrator: Just as Rabbit was about to run, up walks tortoise and slowly and leisurely as always.

    Tortoise: Hang on! I can get you Rabbit!

    Narrator: But before Tortoise could even get to the starting line, Rabbit was off.

    Rabbit: You cannot get me!

    Tortoise [with a smile on his face]: Yes I can.

    SCENE 2: Along the river bank now in the marshes, Rabbit is way ahead and running at pace. Tortoise is slowly crawling after him way behind but still has a smile on his face.

    Tortoise [says to himself]: slow and steady win's the race.

    SCENE 3: Deeper in the forest where there are tall trees providing loads of shade, Rabbit is sitting under one of the trees fast a sleep snoring. Slowly but surely tortoise is catching up. and finally he reaches Rabbit.

    Rabbit: ZZZZzzzzzz snore...ZZZzzzzz, snore....

    Narrator: It appears that Rabbit has worn himself out running at such a pace in the warm afternoon heat.

    Tortoise [says to himself]: Slow and steady wins the raise. Ssh, mustn't wake Rabbit.

    Narrator: Rabbit does not stir and is fast asleep. By the time he does wake up Tortoise is almost near the finish line.

    Rabbit: Oh dear, oh dear, but maybe if i run fast enough ill catch up with him and just pip him to the line.

    Narrator: With renewed energey Rabbit dashes as fast as he can after tortoise.

    SCENE 4: At the finish line all Rabbits friends are waiting but are shocked that tortoise is in the lead.But Rabbit is catching up fast with only meters to go. Tortoise looks back at Rabbit and as he is about to cross the line (with rabbit on his heals)

    Tortoise: You cannot get me

    Narrator: As the meals are passed out (1st place t tortoise, 2nd to Rabbit), everyone cheers for tortoise but Rabbit...

    Rabbit [sadly]: I did not get you!

    END

  4. Script for story book Cinderella

    Scene set in Cinderellas Bedroom
    Cinderella wants to go to the Ball, but she has nothing to wear.

    Jaq (Cinderellas mouse friend): Cinderellas not going to the Ball.
    Gus (Cinderellas 2nd mouse friend) looks worried and says: she's only got her mothers old dress to wear anyway.

    Gus: she'll never get her work done and mend the dress too.

    Both Jaq and Gus begin the help mend her dress with the help of the birds.
    Cinderella enters the room, to find her friends had mended her dress.

    Cinderella: oh thank you so much

    All the birds and mice are overjoyed at seeing cinderella so happy.

    Scene end.

  5. THE LOST PUPPY
    Narrator: Once there was a girl called Chloe she was 8 years old with a sweet and caring family.
    One day Chloe and her friend Rose were walking past the pet shop and she saw a cute puppy.


    Scene 1 – outside of pet shop
    Chloe: Wow! What a cute puppy
    Rose: yes he is isn’t he?
    Chloe: I would love to take him home
    Rose: but you will need permission from your parents for that
    Chloe: Your right I’ll go home and ask my mom and dad.

    Narrator: When she got there her parents were waiting for her at the door they looked angry. Chloe had a feeling she knew why. A couple of weeks ago Chloe threw a party while her parents were away. They must have found out.

    Scene 2: Chloe’s House
    Chloe: “Oh Hi Mum and dad what are you doing out here.
    Mum: you know exactly why. I’m so angry. Go to your room!
    Chloe: but mom
    MUM: No I don’t want to hear anything you can go to your room!
    Chloe: mom
    Narrator: Because Chloe had a laptop and a Gmail address she mailed her friend rose because she had one too.
    Chloe: I have a birthday party on the 10 of May can you come
    Rose: yes I can you already told me and I said yes in school remember.
    Chloe: Oh yes sorry I forgot I’m just so exited.
    Narrator: The day of her birthday party her parents thought it was a good time to show their gift for her. She opened the gift it was the puppy she saw in the pet shop. But how did they now? They must have asked Rose. Before she had time to say thank you there was a knock on the door it was her friends.
    Rose: This is a great party
    Chloe: Thanks I organized and planned it .I thought it was going to be boring but it
    Narrator: isn’t.
    Nina: I hope you like my gift.
    Chloe: Of course I will if it’s from you not to forget the others as well
    Narrator: They had a blast at Chloe’s birthday party I was a great party especially with a new friend.
    Narrator: After a few days it was school and that meant that the puppy called cutes had to stay at home with mum because dad was at office. When mum was putting the garbage out cutes went out. Mum didn’t realize do she wen back in and closed the door not knowing poor cutes was outside. Suddenly a dog kidnapper had come out of nowhere stole cutes and left a note. [Back to Chloe]
    Chloe: Finally school is over now to see my favorite puppy.
    Narrator: She rushed to her house when she saw the letter. She was shocked she told her mum and they phoned the police. Then the police came Chloe told them everything and what she suspected happened. when they finished the police realized who it was it was a famous dog kidnapper he gave them back for huge amounts of money and if they didn’t do as they were told he would sell them.
